Team Away Day 2024: Go-karting and Archery

On Friday, Team GES headed to Ancaster Leisure Centre for our 2024 team away day! 💚

Situated in Grantham, this is Lincolnshire’s largest outdoor activities playground, offering everything from Go Karting and Bowling to Paintball, Laser Tag, and Airsoft.

We, of course, chose Go Karting and Archery because what better way to bond than with a bit of friendly ‘only slightly’ competitive sport? 🏎🏹

Since our last away day, we’ve hit a milestone and grown to the biggest we’ve ever been—definitely something worth celebrating. So, what better excuse to reward the team with a day out of the office to blow off some steam? Or in this case, gas.

Let the games begin!

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and were directed to the complimentary tea and coffee bar. After fueling up, we suited and booted up in our very chic overalls complete with balaclavas and helmets. We looked like we were about to join an F1 race! 🏁

Once all the safety stuff was done and the adrenaline pumping, we headed to the track ready for what was sure to be the race of the year.

After 8 test laps and 30 full-on racing laps, a big shout out to our race champs: India, claiming 4th place; Michelle speeding into 3rd; Lewis cruising to 2nd; and, of course, Drew taking 1st place on the podium 🏅!

Post-race, we devoured a well-earned feast of pizza, meatballs, chips, and more. With our energy restored, we geared up for round two: Archery.

Off we went into the woods to channel our inner Robin Hood. In a rustic cabin, we each took turns testing our aim. And once again, Drew took the win with Lester close behind in 2nd. Clearly, Drew has been here before! 😉

What a fantastic day!
