You’ll be confident managing both clients and your team, balancing people skills with analytical precision. About the Role

The Key Account Manager is responsible for the effective management and development of all Green Energy Switch (GES) clients. This includes ensuring outstanding client satisfaction, maintaining strong and proactive relationships and overseeing performance across all client accounts.

The Key Account Manager will take overall responsibility for all service areas, with Void Energy Management being the current largest and most complex area of focus. You’ll also be a key link between GES and its clients – ensuring high service standards, driving performance improvement, and fostering collaboration.

The role also involves line management of a motivated team and the analysis and reporting of detailed client performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the management of all GES client relationships, both directly and through effective leadership of your Key Accounts Team.
  2. Take overall responsibility for all client satisfaction for all service areas, ensuring consistent delivery standards and client satisfaction across each, with Voids Management as the largest and most complex service area requiring additional focus and oversight.
  3. Ensure regular and proactive client contact – maintaining structured communication with every client, primarily through monthly virtual meetings, supplemented by face-to-face meetings as required.
  4. Drive high levels of client satisfaction by embedding a culture of consistent communication, service improvement and proactive problem-solving across your team.
  5. Oversee the monitoring and analysis of client performance against key KPIs – including voids added, reads added, data provided, and bills paid – ensuring your team are tracking progress and addressing performance issues promptly.
  6. Lead and support the onboarding and training of new clients, ensuring the process is thorough, efficient and includes coordination with relevant internal teams such as Finance.
  7. Ensure all client-facing documentation, including training materials and presentations, are accurate, up to date and regularly reviewed by your team.
  8. Build and maintain positive partnerships and relationships with internal departments, external suppliers and key client stakeholders to enhance collaboration and service delivery.
  9. Oversee the preparation of detailed monthly performance reports for the Director and Operations Manager, ensuring data accuracy and meaningful insights from your team’s analysis.
  10. Ensure client performance data systems are maintained to a high standard, with accurate, timely and accessible information.
  11. Support the Operations Manager and Director in supplier relationship management, attending meetings where strategic or escalated issues require senior input.
  12. Oversee and manage client escalations, ensuring your team resolve issues efficiently and that any significant matters are escalated appropriately to senior management or suppliers.
  13. Ensure the provision of client performance reports and contribute to the ongoing development of the GES Portal to improve visibility and accessibility of performance data.
  14. Lead, motivate, and develop your Key Accounts Team, fostering a positive, high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  15. Ensure all individual, team, departmental and organisational objectives are met, aligning activities and resources to achieve GES’s strategic goals.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Key Account Management.
  • At least two years of line management experience.
  • Proven experience of meeting and exceeding challenging targets.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written -with confidence in presenting to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship – building skills with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organisational and time management abilities.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, capable of interpreting performance data to drive improvement.
  • Creative thinker who can identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
  • Commitment to sustainability and willingness to use sustainable transport for work wherever possible.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and data reporting tools.
