A Day in the Life of Debbie: Solving Supply Issues Behind the Scenes

Follow Debbie’s day as she works behind the scenes in our void energy management team, tackling supply issues and handling supplier queries so our partners don’t have to.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually log on before 9am to check my calendar, go through any new emails, and see how many supplier objections are outstanding. Then, most of my day is spent making calls to suppliers, sending them emails, and taking part in ‘Power Hour’.

Can you briefly explain what your role involves?

I handle supplier queries and objections – this means making lots of calls and doing a fair bit of investigating, especially around things like meter mix-ups or when tenants haven’t closed their accounts. My job is to make sure the energy accounts are transferred into the RSL’s name so we can manage it properly during the void period.

How does your role help RSLs or residents and what makes us so unique?

I prioritise objections to help our partner supplier gain supplies quickly, ensuring RSLs benefit from our service as soon as possible. I also resolve meter mix-ups and database issues promptly to keep things running smoothly for our RSL partners.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

Resolving long standing issues.

Can you share a memorable moment or success story with an RSL or resident?

Resolving a complaint with a supplier that had been ongoing for several weeks and getting the supplies restored and switched.

How does your role support the wider mission of Green Energy Switch?

Providing the best service for the RSLs by enduring our partner supplies can gain the supplies and we can provide void services.

What three words would you use to describe your work?

Rewarding, Busy and Varied.

What’s always on your desk (or in your work bag)?

A water bottle.

Do you have a go-to playlist, snack, or habit that keeps you focused?

Writing a to do list.

What do you like to do in your downtime or lunch breaks?

Go for a walk or go in the garden with the dogs.

How do you unwind after a busy day?

Chill for a bit on the sofa!
