A Day in the Life of Drew: Making Void Energy Management Effortless

Drew is one of our Key Account Executives here at GES. Step into his day as he juggles meetings, energy drinks, and meaningful conversations, all while supporting nearly 60 RSLs and making sure their Void Energy Management runs smoothly.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually start my day from just before 9am and I prepare with at least 1 can of Monster 😊My typical day, would being with looking at my upcoming KA calls for the day ahead and organising the information for each call, such as outstanding billing, the stats for each RSL and any actions from the previous call. After each of my calls, I would then fill out my call log and email over the notes from our call and log any actions that need to be looked into and resolved. I will also resolve emails and calls that come through from our RSLs throughout the day and look to plan for the following days meeting.

Can you briefly explain what your role involves?

The role encompasses being a point of contact for RSLs to keep them updated on where their properties are and how we can help to improve or continue on their journey. We look to resolve any issues that they are seeing that cant be handled by the switch team or need further investigation and build relationships with the teams to better understand how they work and their objectives for using our service.

How do you stay in touch and build relationship with our RSLs?

Email, teams and phone.

Learning about the team to understand how they work and what they are looking to gain from our service, whether it be quicker turnaround of properties, EPCs for tenanted projects or regen works and look to see how we can help to manage those and assist in the best way possible.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

Helping the RSL to resolve issues that they have been facing with problem properties or issues that tenants have seen

Can you share a memorable moment or success story with an RSL?

An RSL I hadn’t dealt with before was unhappy with some of the current processes and had started trialling a new service provider. After having a discussion with them about the issues they were facing, I managed to resolve those concerns, put a number of fixes in place, and create a much better setup that worked for them. I also supported them in areas outside our usual remit. Since then, they’ve been extremely happy with the service, and we’ve received two glowing reviews about how good the team is… which is what it’s all about!

How does your role support the wider mission of Green Energy Switch?

By hopefully helping the RSLs and their team to understand the importance of the information that we ask for and how to read the stats that we offer, it will help to improve their turnaround, thus saving money on fuel usage, rent loss and issues further down the line.

Busy, interesting, challenging

Energy drinks

Do you have a go-to playlist, snack, or habit that keeps you focused?

Oasis, 90s music (rock, metal, pop, bit of everything) and my headphones. If my headphones are in, I’m in the zone

What do you like to do in your downtime or lunch breaks?

Grab a drink, get some fresh air and have a chat with colleagues
because I don’t tend to talk enough in the day

How do you unwind after a busy day?

Spending time with my kids and watching a good comedy series

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your job?

I am the key account contact for 59 RSLs, looking after a total stock of over 250,000 properties
